Title: Student standalone version
Post by: ams_nanolab on November 9, 2012, 06:56
I was thinking why don't you launch a standalone student version of ATK at a reduced price? It could encourage more people especially in low-income / developing nations to use ATK.  ;D

Out of curiosity, what do you think would be an acceptable price for such a license? $100? $1000? $10?

I'm not saying we will be able to do it, this would have rather large consequences for us perhaps, but it's always interesting to discuss.

Depending upon the govt funding/ contingency PhD students/ post docs get in say India, a cost of $250 - 500 for a one time license (with limited update) may be sustainable. Then again these are totally my personal view  :-X
