Title: make 3d view image output programmatically

i am eventually trying to do everything in python, and i would like to produce a flat (top view) of my configuration and a specific angled view and output those as images, as my script makes various configurations ... can i do this?  i cannot find anything in the manual about how to call the viewer and export an image

Right click the 3D view > Export image is the only way, you cannot access any of the 3D functionality in "atkpython".
