Title: wierd errors

starting getting this all of a sudden ... tried license manager, got this .. tried reinstall atk, got this .. what is it?

totally rebooted machine (ubuuntu) .. not sure what is going on :

I'm pretty sure the above has nothing to do with ATK inherently, seems more a general error with your X-Windows.

As for the license error, you should have a license server set up, so make sure you have a network connection to it, and that the environment variables (see documentation (http://quantumwise.com/documents/manuals/latest/InstallationGuide/index.html/chap.licensing.html#sect2.licensing.managing.env)) are set. To troubleshoot license errors, try running (as one single command)

Quote

LMX_EXTENDEDLOG=license.log atkpython

and look into the file license.log that will be created (in the current directory) about where ATK tries to find the license, and where it fails. Then you will see if it even tries to connect to the license server.

yes it was working fine until this .. very strange .. in fact i was running a job and it quit in the middle ... someone must have done something but i have no idea how to fix it ... thank you

So you can't start ATK now? Is the license server running?

yes the license server is running

i set floating license and set to the license server ... it says configuration complete when i do that .. but i get below when try to run

You know the license server runs because ...? You checked "lmxendutil -licstat" on the server itself as well as on your machine?

Did you restart the terminal for the changes to the license environment variables to take effect?

You should provide the contents of the "license.log" file obtained as instructed above, to give a better idea of what sources of licenses ATK is trying. It may not even try to connect to the license server if the environment is not correctly set, or it might try but fails if the license server is down. Only seeing the Err: 9 gives us no further clues.

Well I say I know because I pinged he license server and it was ok, and I also checked the status page of the folks who run the servers ... I will try what you suggested and post the results .. i also have an admin looking at that error in case it is not atk as you said it might be

Ok the fact that the server machine is running is not the same thing as the LMX license daemon is running. That's what I meant to check.

Oh I see .. there is a message about an expired trial license .. I chose floating license and entered the license server so i am not sure why it is using a  trial license .. i have to check this .. I was told we had a valid license installed
