Title: Significance and meaning of LDDOS Plot
Post by: Parveen on February 8, 2016, 13:37
Hi All,

I was trying to plot LDDOS plot for a device structure and end up with a plot looks like multiple LDDOS plots are merged onto same plot. I can't figure out if it a real plot or i went wrong somewhere while plotting it. Also tell me what is the significance of plotting it. Is it for the counter-check of the results obtained by Transmission spectra? what does Transmission coefficient T(E)>1 signifies in context of LDDOS plot.

Thank you

We need some more info in order to say anything about weather the plot is ok or not. Scripts and data.

Wrt. significance of the LDOS plot, it gives you a spatial (real-space) picture of the density of states, whereas a standard DOS plot (DOS vs. energy) does not.

Would it make sense to do
Code
avg_z = ldos.axisProjection('average', 'c')

I can't figure out why this is important? Though while plotting DOS with the help of 1D Projector i got following plot PFA. Maybe averaging along C axis is not required but, is it destroying the LDDOS plot in anyway?
Moreover i did't find this line
avg_z = ldos.axisProjection('average', 'c')
in either of my scripts.
