Title: Distance measure tool in builder
Post by: ams_nanolab on June 26, 2015, 23:16
Please include a distance measurement tool (between atoms) in the builder.

This is a very useful feature...../ What I find that they ( thanks to ATK team :)  ) have already included this....and, you will get to see it in VNL-ATK-2015...!!!

We did...? Not that I noticed :) Perhaps you mean that you now get a tooltip for the bond length between atoms. But this doesn't work if the atoms are far apart.
There is one (old) tool you can use - not the most convenient, but at least it works. Select the two atoms and open the Z-Matrix in Coordinate tools. It will give you the distance directly.

But we should make a measure tool, for angles and distances - it will come in 2016, I hope!

 Dr. Anders Blom,

Ohhh....yes.....!!! :P  I didn't  mean anything, e.g. measuring distance for the atoms far apart...or, considering the angle..... / You are right...... all I was  saying is the tool-tip (one can bring the pointer right on the bond....it will readily provide the distance between the two atoms) ....!!!

Anyways, thanks Anders....for this clarification...... :)

Z- matrix tells the sum in all the three directions.
Can a tool be available where the distance can be individually seen in all the three directions.

Yes, I felt the same way some time ago, and so I made my own "XYZ-Matrix", it's attached. As usual, with unofficial plugins, if it works it works, if not I can try to fix it, when I have time, maybe ;)

After "Local install" in the AddOn Manager, restart VNL, and you find it under "Coordinate Tools" in the Builder.
