Workfunction, Ionization potential and electron affinity

Dear Sir,
1. Can we calculate the workfunction of 2D materials from the chemical potential or is it the difference between the chemical potential and effective potential.

2. Electron affinity and ionization potential- obtained from the total energy difference provided the charge to be -1 and +1. please elaborate its physical significance
