Given your indicated country, I may however hazard a guess. If your username on the computer, or whichever folder VNL is configured to start in, contains a non-ASCII character, this may cause it to fail, and will under any circumstance cause problems later on. If so, change this folder, i.e. the "Start in" folder of the Start Menu or Desktop shortcut, to something simple like C:\ATK (create the directory as well) and try again.
